Ripley & Detrick Supply Co.
Ripley & Bronson - St. Louis, MO
FireHydrant.org currently knows nothing about either of these companies. Our best guess is
that these two names represent a change of ownership of a single company that was a water
handling supplies distributer. If you have any information please
Email Us.

An identical hydrant, with the same Dec. 11, 1888 patent date, called "
NATIONAL" was made by American Foundry & Mfg.
Co., also of St. Louis, MO. It is likely that this "EMPIRE" hydrant was made
private label by American Foundry & Mfg. Co.

"NATIONAL" hydrants without any embossing cast onto the potbelly of the barrel are likely
"EMPIRE" hydrants missing the bolt-on emblem.
